A little blog chit chat reminded me of a quite well known song from Janis Joplin: Me and Bobby McGee. Therein is a line that made me love that song from the first time I heard it – apart from the music, the voice and the overall story related in the lyrics. “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”. And what a true statement that is. One can only be be truly free, if one is not afraid of losing something. Or in other words: no tenure on anything anymore. Let things and people just be as they are and do not ever pretend you can control, own or manipulate anyone. This is a very hard slope to climb but the rewards are manyfold. Watch out: good things might happpen to you. As long as you are prepared to suffer the pain of losing, that is.

well, no one can ever be truly prepared. but expect to lose. you can’t be sure of yourself. how could you ever be sure of someone else? endure the pain, if things go awry. in the end, we’ll have to let go of our own egos, even. so better train now.
