It is so good to be working in a proper house with proper heating again. Although today is the eighth day in row spent hauling boxes, cleaning shelfs, organizing craftsmen and technicians and so forth, I am so thankful the days in a tin box are over. What a relief it is to look out on icicles rather than having to remove them from your desk every morning. I vividly recall last winter, having to work at a place that never got any warmer than 9°C, heating on full blast. Plus, since yesterday computers and phones work properly again, my desk is halfway organized and thousands of files are at their proper place. I still have to get used to the new surroundings. My new office is huge. I will work in it for a while to get a “hang” of the place, before I start to shop for new furniture. I insisted to get rid of that horrible, male desk and shelfs I inherited from my predecessors. I’d quite like to have pure, white shelfing and an old, wooden desk and chair. Maybe even a high desk or some such. Something I can receive visitors or customers casually and unconstrained at. Many times someone just pops in for a quick question. Asking them to sit down always consumes too much time. People then feel obliged to chat a little. But to not ask them to sit down I think impolite. Maybe you have a better idea how to solve that problem? I’d appreciate your suggestions.
