No idea who put this bill up on an ad column, and why, but it was such an uplifting message to see first thing in the morning on the way to the train station yesterday.
Although yesterday turned out bad enough, looking at this again, everything seems to backwind to: it’s ok, after all.

See, works completely differently on my marbles, it’s actually quiet frightening to me, can’t help but think of unhealthy or unstable over the top underdogs reading this, drawing all the wrong conclusions, leading to something horrible like this.

my oh my. that thought never crossed my mind. is this a male perception, maybe?

won’t claim that it is fixed on any one gender, though arguably more males tend to lose it. like to attribute it to switching/changing gender roles and maybe the daily demonstration even deflation & devalueation of all areas of communal & common sense. the worth of an individual is being portrayed as shrinkingly small.
as for the picture, I m not sure who is portrayed, either massmurder prior to killing spree or some folks with a 70/80ies style family photo, totally harmless, but for the boredom of meme addicts put into entirely different context.
one might argue thats the downside of having everyone turned into a sender instead of only recieving infront of the telly ^^.
now I got to admit that although this is a harsh implication, I wonder if without your ad and my voiced concern you’d read the close range thing entirely differently. maybe a creepily overprotective father, who was send off to war but deserted to live in a shed near his family’s house, watching over them protectively from a close range.
neither good or bad, huh? but our thinking makes it so….
another thing came to mind, maybe the inciting resistance, implyed physical coersion, of idioms like the one in the add or “to make your own luck”/seines eigenen Glückes schmied sein. have a bitter “aftertaste” to me, or anyone at the short end of the stick, somewhat mockingly falling back onto a position that shifts blame & focus as if there was no mitigation by corruption (just reelected blatter ^^), or nepotism or gaming/playing the system (if there is no law against it yet, we ll take advantage of it no matter moral implications)
it could also be the targeting and greater familiarity with military terms due to again gender roles & games boys are presented with esp on gaming consoles & computers, just to get the little soldier off the ground and signing up in time for the next big brawl….that makes it more likely to react in a certain way to a message like the one you posted.
our language & programming then tends to make the connection close range=sh*t to the he*d
not to put any blame on marley, but who hasnt sung out loud certain parts of “no woman no cry”? ^^ not to say this triggers killing sprees, but it “breeds familarity” at least with some uncomfortable subjects. not trying to say we should avoid them or ostracise those that use them or are amused by them. I much rather see them be embraced to an extend whenever you come across ’em by accident, to maybe help yourself stay vigilant, to see where their logic was flawed, where they misinterpreted and if & how to guard against falling into similar traps. ^^

this comment needs more consideration than I have the energy for right now. but you’ve got points. male points, though. I think. Soon more…
