Now, according to Spiegel-online, German State Secretary Hans-Peter Friedrich wants to do away with anonymity for bloggers. Apart from the simple fact that this is technically not possible (except maybe for data-wizzards who are able to spy out any data origin, but these are, I hope, such extreme nerds that they otherwise are harmless) and – if this rule were restricted to Germany only – would be easy to circumvent, it is above all just plain bullshit. Or is it? I mean apart from that stupid comment, Mr. Friedrich made. All of a sudden I am not so sure any more. Doesn’t Google already have the means to track down everybody? Don’t we all leave enough personal data to be identified easily if someone put their mind to it? Can “they” make us to give up our little hide-out identities? I always felt fairly secure behind my nlyart fake name to allow me to be as personal as I want. At times even more open than I would be with my next of kin. A large part of that secure feeling stems from the knowledge, that no one in their right mind would ever hold my utterances against me. And if they wanted to, they couldn’t find me, he,he.

Well, come to think of it, apart from the two or so personal friends who read up here, because they are genuinely interested, I don’t have the faintest idea, why they do. I guess for the same reasons, I follow other people’s blogs. They are either thoughtful, enriching, entertaining, very strange or otherwise interesting. I have to say, that I enjoy reading and writing here. I would like this to continue. And I am pretty sure, without anonymity most would opt out. I would, for sure. So I was right. Bullshit it is.
