I have found something so phantastic that I can’t wait for next Sunday to share it. Photographer Chris Jordan did a series called “Running the numbers: an American self-portrait” which is so amazing, it takes my breath away. The short introduction on designboom.com describes it as follows: “the work of photographer chris jordan examines american consumption – his latest series of photographs ‘running the numbers’ looks at contemporary american culture through the austere lens of statistics. each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. jordan’s hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone.” If you go to Chris Jordan’s website, you can click on each image of this series and thus activate a zoom-function. Just click on the last picture in this entry and you’re there. Please do try it out, it will be worth your while.
