Bridge! A game designed to make you feel miserable most of the time. Just like golf, it is a past time (or full time for some), where no matter how hard you study, how much you train, how much of your lifetime you dedicate to it, you’ll hardly ever be statisfied with what you can achieve. Just like with golf, I found out quite early, that I am never going to be any good at it. Partly due to my natural inertia, partly due to lack of time and willpower. However, I still love being part of the game.
Call it juxtaposition of inabilitiy and wanting, paired with my love for being with odd people. Which the bridge crowd is even more so than the golf crowd. There’s hardly any money in bridge, so on average, the bridge people are more ragtagged to start with. But in no way less brilliant than any great golfer on earth. So, even though I never really made it to the bridge table lately (at least not last year), and if I did, it was a sorry experience due to lack of routine, I still managed to hold fast to my connection to the game. And when for the bridge club, I am a member at, times got hard last year, I never hesitated to do my share to help it overcome the through.
Of course, I never was able to do as much as my sweetheart was doing for the sheer survival of our little card community, but I am proud, nevertheless, of what little I could do, to make our new club rooms look nice and cosy. Have a look for yourself…

[…] just stumled over a file I created last winter, when I was in charge of decorating our new bridge club location. I had no idea what to put on the many blank walls, until I discovered the universe of card design. […]
