I just stumled over a file I created last winter, when I was in charge of decorating our new bridge club location. I had no idea what to put on the many blank walls, until I discovered the universe of card design. Hence this file on my computer, full with some two hundred pictures of playing cards.

Until then, I never paid much attention to the design of the playing cards we use. All one needs displayed on them is some universally understood signage to mark the value and colour of the card, after all.

But if one starts to look closer into the vast array of creativity put into card design over the centuries, one gets kind of hooked on the topic. Here are a few samples of the modern variety, that I liked.
