Maybe holidays in January are not such a good idea after all. Not, if you want to spend them in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, that is. And winter storm Egmont is predicted.
Anyways, our little short trip with sweetheart’s mom was on the agenda. We hesitated for a couple of hours, before we left on the short, 150 km drive on Friday. The forecast was urging us to stay home, with heavy winds and snowfall to come. But luckily storm Egmont was southbound and we were spared the worst. Arriving at the real nice hotel on lake Fleesen.
Whereas the weather was not very inviting, the hotel was. Nevertheless, we ventured out for a stroll into fifty shades of grey. And some white.
For an Austrian like me, what little snow there is in the North of Germany is always a little amusing. But combined with strong winds it can be a tad dangerous, shifting to unexpected places at times. Especially with the non existant snow ploughs obviously not in action anywhere off real motorways. But I digress…
We had a nice evening together and left the next day for Waren. A little harbour town on the shore of lake Müritz. Quite picturesque with a little maritime touch, despite the cold. Nice little shops around to stroll through. And the sun came out for a brief moment, too. What more can one expect for January?
Wow! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a totally different subject but it has
pretty much the same page layout and design. Excellent choice of colors!
