Boys will be boys…

Last Sunday our 1. Mens Team had their third out of five play offs to the German Federal Golf League. And this was our home day, so the opponents, mostly Hamburg Teams, had to visit our premises. As per usual, after all preparations were done, the day started off with the early shift, I took the afternoon off, to see the boys bring home their victory.

The Men play 36 holes, starting off with singels in the morning, the second round a foursome. Our boys played exceptionally well, topped off by Falko Hanisch bringing in a -9 in the morning round. Followed by David Rauch, who played -3 but signed a -2 score card and thus disqualified himself. For stupidity. I am sure, the boy will make this mistake no more. However, at the end of the day, we still lead by some 30 strokes to the rest. Securing our spot for the jump into the top league in Germany next year. Or so I hope.

Having said that – next stop in the league this summer is Hamburg-Falkenstein, whose team are desperate to go back up to Nr.1 again. They will put up a fight on their home turf in three weeks time. But if our boys keep their shit together, it shall be hard work to beat us.

btw, our 2nd Gents team played in Leipzig last Sunday and won as well. And, of course, so did our Ladies, who played in Potsdam and will win this years’s leg of their league fair and square, no doubting it.

Here are a few impressions from this nice, sunny Sunday at my workplace….

  1. Great pics! – as always. It looks like you have a fourth. . . “Hindernis” on your course. Water, trees, sand, and ducks. What happens when a ball hits a duck? Penalty or do-over? Do the ducks ever sit on a ball and try to hatch it?
And congrats on your team’s success!

    1. The ducks usually take their penalty pretty well, though somwe complain of headaches. Others hit back – they shit everywhere, so the balls go in there for revenge
