Sunday Matinée

As horrible as this pandemic is, it does bring about great ideas, too.

Here is a phantastic one, I found today:

Cocktails with a Curator from The Frick Collection

An expert from the Museum pairs pieces of art with accompanying drinks. The cocktail recipe having to do with the art at hand. Mix yourself the drink and enjoy the  15 minutes explatation about the chosen artwork and its historical background. All for free. What a great idea!

Had I known this earlier, or, more correct – had they started earlier, the first you tube video was made on April 17th and is to be continued every Friday –  I would have turned an alcoholic straight away.

Here is the first, The Polish Rider from Rembrandt. The Cocktail recommeded is

Szarlotka (Charlotte’s – which is also an apple pie in Polish, I learned)

1/3 iced Żubrówka Bison Grass Vodka
2/3 chilled freshly pressed apple juice/cider
pinch of ground cinnamon

Audiences under 21 are encouraged to join with a non-alcoholic drink.

Mocktail Recipe

Apple Juice
Cinnamon

  1. LOL, Lyart. “Had I known this earlier… I would have turned an alcoholic straight away.” Always nice to appreciate art with a little background info and a beverage. I like that the video is short, a digestible 15 minutes. A vodka-cider makes it go down even easier. 🙂

  2. I love all the museum online offerings right now. The Kunsthistorische M. in Vienna has opened up its collection virtually and has videos and activities for kids, to name one example. Also publishers are giving free access to a lot of their books. There is never been a better time to go hunting for teaching materials online.
