void

Time is relentless. Ticking away, leaving it’s marks: backpains, a few pounds more each year, thinning hair, teeth loosening…. But all that is bearable.

Not so the voids left by those, who are no longer with us.

Today would have been your birthday. A blogpost already composed. A phonecall in the evening to congratulate and catch up with the latest news from Loipersdorf.

Instead, there is this void… Same as pretty much everyday. Every time I catch myself thinking of you, there is this millisecond of realisation: you are no longer there. Sometimes, it makes me angry. Other times, it’s emptiness, I feel. Or resignation. But it always hurts.

I wonder, what would you deem worthy of discussion these days? How enraged would you be about the Orange Man back home in the US? What books would be of interest right now? Ah, a million things vis-a-vis the void.

I’m not much of a singer, but I do try and sing you alive.
