What a weekend this was. Staging a top tournament at home (all went just great), our young club golfers were all over the place, elsewhere. Part of the team fighting for the qualification to compete in the German Championship. Three young players made it, two girls and one boy. While another boy, aged 16, meanwhile played the British Boys Championship in Muirfield, Scotland. And what can I say, he won it! He joined our club a couple of years ago, being really shy and quiet. But an excellent fighter, as it turns out. The final round in this matchplay format was set for 36 holes this Sunday and aired on TV in Great Britain. Can you believe it, they close the entire course for the final two competitors on this special day. What an experience, just the two 16 year olds playing Muirfield. It was a real tigth affair, ending all square after 36 holes. Falko’s opponent, Alejandro Aguilera, sent his tee shot out of bounds at the first extra hole of the sudden death drop out and our Falko kept his cool, paring for his biggest triumph yet, British Boys Champion Golfer of the Year 2016. Thus earning a ticket to the final qualifying for the next British Open. I am really happy for the boy.
