Where did the old tamtam of trains go? You know, the distinctive sound of metal wheels rumbling over the gaps in the steel, where the single rails met.
Now, there is just a whizz audible. And sometimes a slight, razor-sharp squeak. I assume, this is a result of high speed and bends. Otherwise, riding these new, smooth ICE trains is really comfortable. Especially as early in the morning as I started out, with a compartment all to myself. And now, with the sun just coming up somewhere near Fulda, I even have a view.
