Born 1947 in Huntington, Long Island, Robert Schmid studied Chemistry and Fine Art at Syracuse University. He is a descendant of Bohemians, who left Europe and went to Queens, N.Y. to build cabinets at the Steinway piano factory in 1904. After living in Florence, London and Los Angeles, he now is back in New York.
Often, he combines single oil or acrylic paintings to tableaux or grids, that have a very modern feel to it. One can have assumptions, one would not have, looking at the paintings individually.
