water colours

The deep blue sea. Or is it? I can’t say I see clear blue very often. But many other lovely colours. Elegant ink grey. Black. Petrol. Dark grey. Turquoise. Green. Light grey. Almost black. Gray with a twinge into british racing green. Milky cream-green. And – ok – on very sunny days – there is some light blue, some navy, too, but also lemon, mint, cyan, white.

Yesterday was your typical “woops, we’ve got the entire beach to ourselves” kind of day. Raining all day, grey skies, great water colours and the Atlantic roared in, thundering upset into the rocks of this island. The fury turned its waters brown, at places.

I don’t know, which I loved more: the fifty thousand shades of water colours or the noises, said water created.
